Add to Cart DownloadCALAIS , FRANCE - Dec-11-2002 - Refugees from Afghanistan and Iraq , who are trying to cross the channel tunnel to England, make their way by night from Calais to the outskirts of the city where they sleep in old WWII bunkers due to the refugee camp in Sangatte being closed by the French authorities. The closing of the refugee camp stemmed from an agreement between the French and British governments in an effort to stop the flow of illegal immigrants crossing the channel tunnel. Humanitarian aid workers provide the refugees with warm clothes, food and blankets to help them endure the sub-freezing temperatures. (Photo © Jock Fistick)
